Queen heartbroken as ‘all people who kept her going’ now gone after Prince Philip’s death

The Queen turned 95 on Wednesday and was forced to mark the milestone without her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away earlier this month. Following Prince Philip’s funeral, many royal fans expressed concerns for Her Majesty as the heartbroken monarch is forced to adapt to a life without her companion and consort of more than 70 years. Us Weekly’s Royally Us podcast poignantly pointed out the Queen has now been left without all the people she came to rely on in life as her “rocks.”

Guest Molly Mulshine told listeners: “When you think about the fact that she has lost her husband.

“About ten, fifteen years ago she lost her sister and her mother.

“Those are really the three people who kept her going and were her rocks throughout her whole life.

“So they are all gone now.”

Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and Her Majesty’s younger sister, Princess Margaret, died within weeks of each other in 2002.

During the funeral service for Prince Philip, held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Queen struck as sombre pose sat on a row of pews alone.

Her Majesty was sat some distance away from other members of her family in accordance with social distancing guidelines.

Host Christina Garibaldi described that image of the Monarch grieving alone as her husband was laid to rest as “heartbreaking.”

“My family and I would like to thank you for all the support and kindness shown to us in recent days.

“We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”

The message marked the first time the Queen had spoken out since the death of her husband.

Philip died at the age of 99 following a month-long hospital stay earlier this year, where he received treatment for an infection and surgery on an existing heart condition.

Her Majesty is currently in a two-week mourning period, as is the rest of the Royal Family.
